Compressor Gas Analysis

A gas analysis should be provided for all present and future operating conditions, and it should be checked for the presence of sulfides, chlorides, or other corrosive gents. These contaminants can have a major effect on the selection of the materials f construction. Hydrogen embrittlement is a potential problem in compressing gases having a significant hydrogen partial pressure. If the gas is “wet” with water or hydrocarbon liquids, it may be necessary to provide special separation and heating equipment for the compressor suction system.
